The FLARE project is funded by a three-year grant with generous support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York to develop and validate a formative assessment system for teachers serving English
language learners (ELLs) at the secondary level.
FLARE Participating Districts and FLARE Friends/Community web pages
FLARE Participating School District members and FLARE Friends/Community members with a valid
user name and password can login using the LOGIN button at the top of this page.
Once you have logged in, you will be directed to the appropriate page to view your School District or the FLARE Friends/Community.
The FLARE Discussion Forum is now open for business!
You can access the FLARE Discussion Forum in two ways, 1) via the menu button to the left which will direct you to the Forum login page, or, 2) via the menu once you have logged into your district or FLARE Friends/Community home page, which will send you directly into the Forum. Login using the user name and password provided to you via email. In the Forum, you can share discussions within your district or across the FLARE Friends/Community, post questions or comments, attach and download materials, and see announcements regarding your district or the FLARE Friends/Community. Introducing the FLARE "Spectrum"
The “invitation only” portion of the FLARE web site and the FLARE Discussion Forum is known as the FLARE Spectrum. We have developed a statement of Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for the FLARE Spectrum

FLARE Project Overview
The FLARE project, under the direction of WIDA Research Director H. Gary Cook and Project Manager Paula A. White, is designed to assist teachers in measuring
student progress in developing the essential language needed for success in academic
classes. Quality, ongoing feedback from these assessments will help teachers and
students target learning objectives and thus more effectively prepare students to
accelerate learning toward the goal of language proficiency and post-secondary academic
success.
The FLARE formative assessment system will
function as an integral component of WIDA's overall system of standards and assessments
for ELLs and is developed referencing nationally recognized standards which include:
